sThroughout my years of teaching my primary audience is my students. I understand students are writing, researching, graphing etc. in their core classes, I try to have my lesson plans gear towards physical movement, caloric expenditure, and body composition. Not all students are highly skilled in running the mile or be able to complete ten perfect push-ups, therefore catering to students engagement, motivation, and interest (fun) is important to my teaching. I experienced a lot of success using music (Fit Radio, Spotify, iTunes) as a tool to increase students physical movement and motivation. Another technology tool I found helpful is Kahoot it. Using Kahoot as a study guide has increase students' learning and a friendly competitiveness. I also agree that I have a duel audience in students and colleagues. At ACMS, we have Friendly Feedback at our grade level department meeting, where a teacher have the opportunity to share their next PBL or activity. I found it beneficial to listen to other's strategies and how they incorporate technology. This gives me an opportunity to collaborate with other colleagues in different subject and be able to use cross-curricular teaching.

Friendly Feedback. I like it - and maybe there is your answer. With Physical Education and fitness in general, receiving feedback can be embarrassing as on some level it communicates what a student is doing wrong. The notion of friendly feedback relays the intent and is more growth producing and critical. I am wondering if this is where technology can come in to the PE class, i.e., how might a tech platform, e.g., video, be used to create friendly feedback. Just a thought

I totally agree with what you said about overloading kids and they need to move. I teach a math intervention class for an hour and most kids go directly to their core math class and are miserable. I wonder if you could do a cross curricular assignment where they do the writing in the language arts class?

I think it's great that you recognize that sports and movement is not every student's strength, but they can still be successful. I appreciate the thought you have put into your driving question and the continued learning you are working on.
