engagement in meeting fitness goals

ABSTRACT
Technology has enhanced students learning. Integrating electronic devices in Physical
Education classes may expand student’s awareness and provide student’s engagement
within the lesson plan. In one study, students used video to record their throwing and
catching skills. The video provided students with feedback to correct their
biomechanics of the skills. Online gaming such as Kahoot can help increase vocabulary
scores and self-monitor on task behavior. In another study, popular music helped
increased students engagement and increase their step count during physical activity.
The California FitnessGram has healthy zones for 8th grade boys and girls in mile run. I
want to incorporate digital learning tools to help students improve their mile run times.
This study will show how technology can impact students’ mile times, built
self-confidence, and problem solve their performance. The pre-experimental study will
provide pre- and posttest data from two subgroups- boys and girls- using technology to
support their running tests. Data will also be provided from student self-evaluation using
an electronic device.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of my research is to have student engage in physical education with the
help of technology. My question is how the use of technology impacts students’
mile times for meeting running goals in a fitness assessment. I want to explore
whether such devices as heart-rate monitors, smart phones, and cameras can enhance
students’ achievement of proper running form, breathing techniques, and running
strategy. Today adults use many kinds of technology to monitor, measure and set goals
